Flying for American companies in Mexico?
Hi, I posted this in another thread but I havent received any responses so I will try here. Just wondering if anyone has any leads of any american companies flying out of mexico city? I understand you must be born in mexico to fly mexican aircraft. My previous experience is corporate with 2000 hour plus king air time and about 400 citation SIC. The other thing I have considered would be airlines with a texas base and then commuting. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Anyone have any experience with living out of the country and still flying for american companies? Thanks

With your time I think your best bet is AA Eagle or Expressjet (DFW/IAH). With 2000tt and 400tj your gonna have a hard time finding anything but a regional job, but that doesnt mean it never happens. If your flying a King Air or a CJ right now I would stick with that or go to regional hell.
good luck

One possible route to larger aircraft is working for Air Korea Flight Training Center. After a period of time you would transition to Korean as a first officer, or work in the corporate division. I don't know the full details, however, you can contact some contracting organizations such as Rishworth, Cambridge Communications, PARC, to name a few. You can google their web sites for phone numbers. They are very willing to take the time to talk to you.

Thanks for the replies.. I should have added that my total time is 3600 now. 2000 of it being in King Airs. Just looking at some options but the PIC Turbine time I am getting now is valuable. Not sure what direction I will take in the future.

I have a friend at ExpressJet who is IAH based, and he lives in Playa del Carmen. He has been doing the commute for awhile. As mentioned above, both Eagle and XJT would work out for that, however your time at home in Mexico would be as crappy as anyone else commuting.
Also, for non-Mexican citizens I believe it is now a $50 departure tax out of Mexico (I might be wrong on this), but plan to do that 4 times a month. I think my buddy only pays $25 each time he leaves the country.

Can your airline list you on the Gen Dec to avoid the departure tax? that would cut deep into your monthly pay... especially F/O pay!

Hi..Thanks for the info. I see expressjet is hiring again. Any chance you can give me more info about your friend who is commuting to IAH? My thought would be to live in mexico city and commute to iah. Would love to know more details. I am assuming he remains a US citizen because He never is in mexico longer than 180 days on his tourist visa? PM me if I can be in touch with your friend. Thanks again.

It wasn't uncommon for airlines to require 1000 hrs turbine PIC in the past.
