Anyone know if it is difficult to jump from one fleet to another at EY? For example, if you are hired onto the A320, can you bid 787 or 777 down the line or are you permanently fixed to the Airbus line (A320/330/350/380)? If you only have Airbus time, are you not eligible for hiring onto the 787 or 777 fleets?

Asked and answered previously.

Does EY fly you over on an SA upgradeable ticket by any chance? I thought they did, but a friend going there this month said no.

For an interview? No

Joining ticket and Annual Leave Tickets are upgradeable depending on your rank, space available, on company metal only

That's unfortunate. EK did, so I would have expected similar.

At EY do flight deck crews get their per diem/meal allowance in local currency on arrival at the hotel on layovers?

…and any new news on the hiring situation over there?

Thanks again for all the info!

Friend of mine just got hired there and says they're hiring 50/month.

Negative, EK does this. Etihad you are paid per diem based off the region on the world that you are in, and it's credited to your next month's salary. Some pilots suggested this but ultimately it would only benefit a few.

Also depending on the layover, I also personally find it pointless to have the cash since many are short, the weather is bad, or i'm just too damn tired to venture out looking for cheap eats. Room service/hotel buffet and if you need cash there's almost always ATMs or change at the airport on arrival. Even this way I still have loads of cash from countries I go to so infrequently that I never get the chance to use it.

I believe 300 or so hired last year and will probably have that many or more again this year.

Requirements are not all that huge, 2500 hours total time and 1500 hours on multi crew glass cockpit jets with an MTOW over 60t. Since our 737 pilots tend to have all their time on the 737 except for the first 80 or 200 hours (MPL/CPL) it is basically a blanket 2500 hour requirement.

Funny enough there are no current openings on their airbus fleet, they used to offer positions from FO over CPT to TRE, both narrow and widebody. Might be due to a shortage on our airbus fleet though.

Denti - check your PM.

Interesting little story here, that was handled very well by the cabin crew:

Keen to hear of the latest interview feedback & sim profile (type rated) for study too please, given the ~50% failure rate currently, I hear.

Happy landings.

If a pilot elects to find his or her own housing the website says one gets 'up to' AED 160,000 per year for housing. Does anyone know what the low end of the housing allowance is? Is it based on being single, married with kids etc. or could one expect to get the full AED 160,000 regardless?

Thanks in advance for any info.
