I interviewed with CX in October with 2300 multi-turbine military and about 1300 pic. Very challenging but rewarding interview. Was called back for a second interview but declined due to SWA pickup. I have seen enough of the world with USMC.

I know if you go DEFO (Cargo) it's not a problem as I have several buds that are doing that and the reserves (flying). I think if you're a DESO you're SOL. Difference being US based for cargo or HK based for SO. When we did our tour of them (during a port visit) our guide was a retired RAN/RAAF who's their senior 777 Capt, and it seemed most everyone we met in the training/sim building was either RAF/RAAF/CAF/RZNAF/US Military.......

Anybody have info on how being on salary vs. hourly works out for them? They don't have "additional duties" like the military, do they?!? (kidding ... I hope) Work rules/days per month spent away from home? Also, any idea on choosing your domicile? Can you choose to base out of London, Auckland, or Vancouver, or do you have to live in the US or HK exclusively?
Also, would it be possible to hold a Guard job while flying for them, or would it not work since they wouldn't have to grant any mil leave because of being foreign based? Also, I believe he said that since they are not a US airline they are under no obligation what so ever to give you time off for a military obligation, even if US based. Also, check out pprune.com. Go down to the fragrant harbour section. All your q's about working at CX could be answered there. |
The guys I know did CX first, then when they had established themselves there they decided they could swing the reserve gig.
Priorities... do you want to fly for CX or continue to fly Hawgs? Sounds like even though you're getting out, your priority is still to fly Hawgs? However, volunteering for ANC would probably help you with any of the cargo folks. |

They all did active duty first, got out, went to CX, then started drilling. I should have stated that...sorry.
