The salaries published on previous page are putting you in the 30% tax bracket in Taiwan. You are resident for tax purposes after 183 days per year, so it looks like the after tax amount would be in $100K per year range.

I had friends there a few years ago, they were on 747. Back then there was no upgrades, what you've signed for is what you were doing (FO contract).
Now, I don't know, maybe it changed.

The salary offered is pathetic. Not worth the hassle.

Thanks for the info ADSky!

I wonder what's the average take home pay for an FO on the 744? I mean all things included, salary, flight pay, bonuses and 13th salary.

......but it is an improvement on the $9850/month they were paying A340-300 captains a few years back.

Also worth remembering that what you see on the surface is not always how it turns out. The first job I took overseas was published at $7500/month plus accommodation. I ended up making closer to $12,000/month. Not saying that is the case with this, but sometimes you have to look a little beyond the published salary.

It must have been about 7-8 years ago now, so most likely things have changed now, as Typhoonpilot said. Plus, those guys were out of work, 'cause their Airline shut down, so the money wasn't the primery concern and they went NTR on B747 from MD80
I can't say for sure, but it wasn't much. The first chance they had to come back, they both took it. Sorry, that's all I can tell.

The situation has changed. They do upgrade expat FOs now and many have been upgraded recently. Medical is a lot easier now compared to that in the 90s.

Normally one would earned more than the published salary. Although the pay isn't the greatest, but the cost of living in Taiwan is far less than Singapore, HK, or the Middle East. Not to mention the national health insurance system that provides a very good health care for your entire family.

Adsky

They do allow fleet transfer. It all depends on the need at the time. I know quite a few expat FO there have gone from FO on a wide body to Capt on 738 or hired onto 738 and the move on to 744/330.
