CAA first officer mins for a part 125
Trying to find what the min requirements are from the CAA in a part 125 operation as SIC. Someone was trying to tell me 1,000 hours and atp is required for second in command as well as a type rating. My opinion is as long as I have an AMEL instrument I should be good. Added info I'm trying to get a job in Bangladesh on a saab 340 and trying to clear up what is needed. Thanks for any info.

Which ICAO CAA are you talking about? I have FAA and CAA NZ qualifications and as far as CAANZ part 61 rules go about having a foreign type rating and ATP recognized there (in NZ); before you are allowed to take the flight test and sit the NZ ATPL air law exam for the issue of a NZ ATPL and applicable type rating you are required to have 1000 hours SIC or 500 hours PIC in type (of which must be entirely logged in a multi crew and mutli-engine transport category airplane operating under IFR on commercial operations) and while operating in the relevant country that issued the foreign ATP eg. logged in the USA and/or in an N-reg airplane while utilizing an FAA ATP.

Foreign ATPL
A current ATPL issued by an ICAO Contracting State may be accepted as the basis for meeting the eligibility requirements under rule 61.253 for the issue of a New Zealand ATPL.
For this to occur the following applies:
· The foreign pilot licence holder must meet flight experience equivalent to that required under rule 61.253(a)(4) as detailed in Appendix I of this advisory circular. Normally a current foreign ATPL meets this requirement.
· A current foreign ATPL will normally be accepted as meeting all written examination passes for rule 61.253(a)(5) (except for air law), if the applicant also produces evidence of having completed at least 500 hours as pilot-in-command or 1000 hours as co-pilot. This flight time must have been attained in countries under the jurisdiction of the foreign authority that issued the ATPL:
- in multi-engine, multi-crew aircraft; and
- on commercial IFR multi-crew operations; and
- after the issue of the respective foreign ATPL that has been presented for this purpose.
NOTE: A foreign ATPL holder who does not meet the post licence issue requirements as detailed is required to gain credits for all written examinations in accordance with rule 61.253(a)(5).
· All foreign ATPL holders are required to pass New Zealand ATPL Law and a New Zealand ATPL issue flight test in accordance with rule 61.253(a)(6).
