Default Flexjet Aircraft Assignment

I understand that your initial aircraft assignment is up to the company based on available training slots. How does changing aircraft types work after that? Is it purely seniority based? Is there a vacancy bid every so often? How long are you locked in to the initial aircraft type? How long would it take to get on the Global Express or Gulfstream fleets?

Thanks

Probably has something to do with checking your gag reflex.

My understanding is advancement at FlexJet is purely "Merit" based since they dumped the union. "Merit" being a nice way of saying "A-Teamer", "Team Player", "Company Leg Humper", etc. Seniority pays little to no role in it.

Disclaimer: I have not worked for FlexJet (I'm NJA) but have talked to a number of their pilots and read the stuff they've posted on this forum for the past few years.

Nailed it! All one has to do is look at the crews of the 650’s to understand how things work around Flex. Phildo, Wookie and Castor all backstabbed to the top.

Two of those for sure, but one was just a check airman who I’ve never heard of doing anything other than his job.

Globals and Gulfstreams are merit/selection based on who the aircraft manager thinks is best suited to fit-in on the team. The rest of the fleets are seniority based.
