Hey guys about to start training.
What can you tell me about the initial eval sims? How tough are they? They said if we pass that we continue onto ground. How many people don't pass?

First thing's first. You must live in Vermont. That's a start.

NDB/VOR Track/Hold

b. You will be asked to track and hold at an NDB/VOR, fly an ILS approach, and a missed approach.

Just curious, did anyone who did a simulator evaluation have to do something with an NDB? I have played around with an NDB but the aircraft I was flying at the time didn't have one. Needing to find out if I need to go in a simulator prior to the evaluation and do some NDB work.

I haven't heard of anyone doing one in the sim eval. That being said, I've done one in CA down close to minimums so it's not an impossible scenario. We go to some out of the way places.

I didn't do an NDB approach at any time during training. I don't want to guarantee that it won't come up but I can't imagine it would.

2 out of our group didn't pass but they got another eval later and passed. Don't take it lightly but if you're IFR proficient and brush up on the regs they aren't bad. Take your time, focus on accuracy, don't try to rush through it or show off.
