i know it has been brought up before, but no one has given a concrete public answer, but can someone summarize new hire for the group, or is it hush hush and need to be Pmed?

Not sure where you are coming from but it's easy training. I have since left but before I left I believe it was 2 weeks ground schools. Systems, indoc, security, the fun stuff. Then you head to Houston I believe where the full motion sim is. When I went through it was a week, it was 4 sim sessions and a loft. There's one engine so it's limited to the amount of things you can do.. If you have the ability to aviate, navigate and communicate you should be ok.. Read the qrh and make a desicion. You now take your check ride in the sim and that's changed since I have been there, because we used to do them on the airplane. Depending on which CA you get they are all a little different. After that you go to survival systems then IOE.

About 10 days indoc, systems, regs, policy. Then FSI in DFW for 5 sims and a checkride. Graded events are at the end of ground school and of course the checkride.

Does that not strike you as odd? I've never heard in any field of a company making people pay to interview.

That is a ridiculous assertion - you are way out of your league, Donnie. Anyway, the company wants candidates to live within 100 miles of their base, so if you live outside that and need to use air travel to get to an interview, you are expected to find your way there and pay for the hotel you may need for the night before. They also do offsite interviews on a semi-regular basis so you could always wait until they came to you.
