$40K is the BASE salary -- first year FO's make considerably more than that.

You'd clear more at NJA than you would as a first or second year FO at AirTran.

Netjets has never furloughed a single pilot. I guess that's a good thing.

You're still thinking "Hub and Spoke" like an airline. Doesn't happen here.

You pretty much kiss yer' sweetie "goodbye" on day 1 and don't get to see her again until returning home on day 7.

Of course, if you happen to live in one of the popular "resort towns" where the affluent like to play, or somewhere near New York (many of our owner's have homes in the NYC area) there's a good chance you'll score an occasional overnight in your home town.

I live in South Florida (popular place for many of our owners -- many have second homes here) and have overnighted in my hometown (or close enough for my wife to drive in for a visit) only 5 times in the year and a half I've been with the company.

I would like to see NJA get either more bases (ie SEA) or bring back home basing. For those of us that currently commute, it can be a make or brake deal.

Netjets use to be Executive, right? If this is correct, I do remember ExecJet guys being home based. A buddy of mine on the Sovereign in Dallas has heard supposed rumors of maybe going to home basing. Don't know how much truth is in that though.

The company and the union are engaged in Interest Based Bargaining. There are countless rumors about what will and will not be in the proposal (domiciles, scope, crew rot loopholes, crew food, etc). No one knows yet and no one knows how all the pilots will vote. The package is due out in Oct. My advice is to apply now, get hired and then decide to accept the offer or not.

jetlag... can you expand on this a little? What else can you factor in other than the BASE salary?

Per diem and tips I would expect. You certainly don't get any tips working at Skybus.

NetJets did layoff pilots as "Executive Jet Aviation" back in the late '80s, but has never done it since then.

Yes, EJA became NJA in 2002.
EJA never had home basing. NJI did/does. EJA started with CMH, then expanded to CMH, LAS, and ATL in 1999. Around 00-01 it expanded to 25 "Gateway" airports.

Great.... what would you ballpark an average yr 1 light jet FO to take home considering all this? (on top of the 39K)
