Well I have 22 posts to go before I can PM and I can't find any members working at avantair with other contact info. You have probably been around long enough to know things could change the day after one gets hired. I guess I just want to be convinced that this is a risk worth taking. It will be my 4th aviation job. Two of the first three stagnated and the plane went away on the other. I am looking to go somewhere long term.

Nobody can convince you the risk is worth it. It has to be your experience with the company that makes it worth it. Aviation is my 5th career and the best advice I can give you is this: Sometimes you just have to be willing to step off the curb. You won't know if its good until you get there but look at the facts, you don't like where you are now so can it get any worse? A couple of our guys went to Avantair and they love it. The company has shown good growth and they employess are basically happy, probably not a bad move from a regional.

Yeah I have come to the same conclusion... thanks for the quality post. I will be starting in Nov most likely.

Just got the call today to go down and interview. Avantair sounds like a pretty cool place to be. Just wondered if anyone has any tips on the interview. They said the Boston base is still open. Anyone know anything different?

I know someone who was just hired there and he's supposed to be getting BOS.

Thanks. I guess it depends on how the sim is configured at the time you go to flight safety. Then once you get comfortable out on the line they give you differences training and you fly both. That's how I understood it anyway.

Interesting. So, eventually Avantair pilots will interchange between the Avanti I and II? That would make sense and it would be more flexible for scheduling...

As far as pilots go for the I and the II...it's a one day differences class followed by 2 hours in the plane to shoot a few approaches.

I'm dual qualed as are many pilots. Some have yet to go through differences so they are locked into one or the other. With only II's coming its only a matter of time before the I's are all gone (as owner contracts expire) and it'll be a moot point. (or a moo point as in Friends (sorry, obscure reference)).

Got the job

I go the job at Avantair and start in a couple months. I also had a real good offer from an airline. They offered the left seat off the bat. The pay sucks, the bases suck, and the scheduel sucks. For my money Avantair is the way to go even if it is right seat for a year. Just wondered about the lifestyle and how good it is with the fractionals. Any opinions good or bad?

If your talking about going to Big Sky over Avantair you need to put DOWN the booze. There is a world over difference between working for the best regional and the most crappy of the fractionals (not that there really are any).

Ask CA1900 about his experience of hotel quality.

Geronimo, why don't you tell us or show us the link, as I am also interested?

FSI changes the sim every three weeks between the I and the II - it's just a matter of what FSI has the sim configured for as to which you'll train on initially. Eventually, you'll be scheduled for differences training in the other aircraft. It may not be until upgrade time, but it'll happen.

Did I miss something? I am pretty dumb, however!
