I think very favorably compared to the Beechjet - especially if you fly the Avanti II with the Pro Line 21 set-up. Sure, both cockpits are a bit tight. Check out these two videos for reference:

The second video is a bit goofy but you can get a sense for the speed of the Piaggio - not bad. Avantair has also ordered 20 Phenom 100s (jets) with delivery beginning in 2009.

Updates on Avantair FO actual minimums

I'm very interested in applying to Avantair. I've read a lot about the company and the airplane, the schedule, etc. I'm ready to submit; but I don't have the total time they're looking for.

Any word on how things are going so far in 2008 as far as actual hire of FOs?

So if you can't touch the controls until 2?? hrs in the aircraft, how long does that take? How many hrs/yr are the pilots getting?

No pay during training? What about a hotel during training?

emb145captain 01-28-2008 06:27 AM

Hotels are paid for and are nice. You get a per diem check the day you pass your sim check, then you are put on salary.

No matter what your time is, send in the app if you are interested. They are hiring all kinds of folks from different backgrounds.

Good luck!

Not true at all. Old rumor from a rather reactionary policy after the landing accident in FLL. I have flown the airplane over 80 hours since passing my ride in December, with half of those hours being empty legs. What you may be referring to is the policy of not flying pax legs until 225 in type. Keep in mind that every other leg (95% of the time anyway) is an empty repo leg.

I have no clue how many hours I will fly this year. Somewhere between  and

If NJ treated its pilots right, you guys wouldn't need a union! At Avantair, pilots come first, because the company is run by pilots, not pencil-neck bean counters! Big difference.
