Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate all the input.

My base does not have a flying club. I have a very good shot at a reserve squadron where I currently live so I should have that. From there, yeah, there are some good options. CFI at local airport, Delta, Continental (if they are still hiring), commuters, and even trying to pick up active duty time in the reserve squadron. So if NetJets really is the place I want to be it is only a matter of a couple of extra years to meet the mins.

I have a couple more questions if you don't mind. Is most of the flying during the daytime? The commuting, or lack there of, seems like a good aspect as far as quality of life goes. If you live near one of those airports, do you just get picked up in a NetJets plane to get to your assignment? The BBJ looks like that is the place where it really matches what the big airlines and cargo companies pay. What is the timeframe for moving into or up in the ranks for the BBJ?

I know I'm asking a bunch of questions, but I have seen too many guys get out without having a clue so I want to gain as much knowlege as possible.

checkout http://forums.flightinfo.com/

lot more info

95 percent of the time you airline to your jet, you get orders by 1800 the day prior to your tour start date that tells you when to report.

You will never see the BBJ and its in your best interest to get on asap or you may never have the seniority to upgrade. If hired next year youre looking at 5 years to upgrade, if hired in three years your seniority might not hold captain for ten years, seniority rules, get the hours asap, dont lollygag around

NetJets_DA2Easy, thanks for that link. I'll check it out now. Why would I never see the BBJ? What if I had a 737 type rating?

Maybe the BBJ guys are separate (like the NJI guys used to be) and exempt at NJ. But the fact that they don't have that many BBJ's on property in relation to the total number of pilots, as well as a little thing called seniority, well.......

Over 2700 pilots on the seniority list and I'd say at least 10% of us have B-737 type ratings.

There are only 3 BBJs and if you hired on today you would have 2700 senior to you bidding it.

Having a type rating is not a factor at NJA, seniority is the ONLY thing that matters.

Why do we have BBJs to begin with??? a G-V can take you further, faster and for less money.

You can't take 40 of your best friends with you in a G-V.

Hi!

Aptap.org has a lot of good info on mil->civ. Don't be dissuaded because it's a helo site-there are FW guys on there too.

You'll find the civvy jobs sometimes have interesting requirements:
Alaska-no tobacco users
AirTran-500 PIC -121 (or military equivalent, whatever that means)
Some have min times.
Some have min PIC times.
Some have min time in jets.
HAVE to have combat experience.
HAVE to speak Farsi, etc., etc.

Most of the flying is daytime, from what I understand.

You will be airlined from your base, to a waiting plane )-when you're done, you'll get airlined back (almost all the time).

The BBJ pay is NOWHERE near airline pay. When I last looked, the max BBJ pay was about $220K. The max pay at NWA/DAL/UAL is about $165.

The max base pay at my airline is $94K.

PPrune.org is good for non-North American jobs if you're interested.

And, I think the BBJ normally seats 12.

Good luck!

cliff
where am I? oh yeah, AUS.

Won't be surprise if those things are gone in a few years, and replaced by G550s or the Falcon 7X like our buddies in Europe.
