NJ Flight Time Grid
Hey all,
I have a question regarding the Flight time grid on the NJA app, and on any other for that matter. I try to keep pretty accurate logs books as it's one less hassle in an interview process. While filling out my NJ application last week I noticed that all my MEL-SEL, and SIC-PIC don't add up perfectly. Granted they're not 100+ hours off but enough to make me wonder if it would raise a flag in an audit or something (maybe 5-10 hours). Now I may be looking too far into this but I am just curious if anyone else has had any problems. Im sure noone has a "perfect" logbook.
Thanks for the insight!

I agree with LucasM. When I did that timesheet, I had similar problems. My numbers just didn't quite add up. Like you said, nothing huge, but not exactly right either. I went through my logbook from day 1 and found and corrected several minor errors. It took many many boring hours to do, but everything added up in the end, and I felt much more satisfied submitting it that way. No sense risking a chance at a phenominal job over a couple careless mistakes!

I certainly didn't have that *perfect* logbook at first - especially when others are in charge of it and they could care less about erros or neatness or anything else about it. I keep my own records and like you said try to keep meticulous records. I had to scrub all of my books many times over but in the end I've got everything smoothed out to. I agree with LucasM on this one - sit down this weekend with a good calculator and a spreadsheet and start pouring over those numbers.

Sounds good,
I did a total logbook audit before I got in here at Eagle, and have been pretty good about it since. My SEL and MEL add up perfect, but my SIC and PIC is about 67 hours off....my thoughts are that they SIC and PIC wont add up because of flight training (private pilot/MEL training doesn't count as PIC) Any thoughts?
Thanks again

I've found the same thing--that everything doesn't add up perfectly. The advice others gave here is good, but just because PIC+SIC doesn't equal your total time, doesn't mean you have a logbook error. Do a solid error check and be able to confidently explain your totals. It demonstrates that you understand how to correctly log time and that you're meticulous enough to make sure it's right.

Shell out the $20-$100 for a computer based logbook and input all or your data. (If you’re a Naval Aviator try Naval Aviator's Logbook.) It took me about a week to enter almost 18 years worth, then another couple days to locate all the errors. Two full pages of documentation added on how screwed my logbook was, spite my signing every page for those 18 years. But I’m confident that when I go into whatever interview I get I won’t get questioned on my numbers!
