Default Things picking up at Flexjet?

I ran into a Flex pilot the other day and he said that they are getting busy. Too busy. He is on the Challenger. Is the Challenger the only aircraft busy over there or are all of the planes flying?

Story reported elsewhere is that TC reports no deliveries planned during 2010, but on Thursday 27 of 28 CL30's flew, a total over 100 hours.

Only time will tell.

They are real busy I talked to my best friend he's a 300 capt we talk all the time he said yes we are real busy but no plans on new pilots yet . every time they think they well start hiring they are told they might have possible layoff's . so it hit or miss and they still have 85 pilots on the street that has frist call back up to 3 years . but lets hope they get so busy it happens fast . and we can get some pilots flying again.

Correction:

Callback only extends to TWO years, and the first wave of callbacks expire in January 2011. The rest expire around April 1, 2011.

So, in reality, if they don't recall this coming fall, probably nobody will still be in the program.

Doubtful they will get anybody back during the summer months, typically slow time.

TC has been quoted saying that he does not expect to call anybody back, at any time. That if and when things happen, some will be eligible to be re-interviewed, and then possibly re-hired.

But, I was not present for that conversation, so take it as heresay.

Someone had mentioned that they heard over at HQ that they were thinking of extending the recall to 5 years. Is that something that is just hot air or has someone else heard that? Maybe that is a way of weading some of the furloughed guys out.

Contractually the company can do whatever they want after two years. Management might be thinking that there is a financial incentive for them to wait out the two years; even if they decided to only hire the 85, after two years they could be brought back at Year 1 pay and vacation rates, no vesting time in the 401(k), and no fixed benefit retirement plan.

Scuttlebutt discussion sounds like next winter could be tough without more planes and pilots - but I think that management will bring back as few as humanly possible; let's root for Dow at 13,000 so the rich get richer, and there are some recalls!
