Future plans for PC12 Pilot
#12
I' ll kick in my two cents here. I went to the job fair, everybody was really nice, I know people that work there and they love it. What my thought is, I spent soooo much time and money into building multi engine time that I would limit myself taking a PC 12 job. I thought that NJA, FX, and the rest of the major corp outfits all require the multi time. I couldn't go to a Legacy, AKA CAL, SWA, JB, etc because you need a min 1000hrs MULTI turbine time. So I thought what else, go take a pay cut to sit in the R. seat of an RJ to get my Jet or turbine experience. I definitly did not want that. Also I had heard and maybe someone can clarify this, that some companies will not consider SIC PC 12 time under part 91 because the Pilatus is considered single pilot certified. Any thoughts on that?

I've recently been told there is a 1 year contract for new hire right seaters. As far as the SIC time in a PC-12, it may not be worth much, but it certainly counts towards your total time. I was able to use that time to get me to 1500TT so I could take my ATP ride with the feds at the same time I did my PIC ride with the company. Like I said, it may not be worth much, but 91(K) requires it, and this company could not function without our SICs. This place is certainly not for everyone, and we have to individualy make that decision for ourselves. Almost (never perfect) all of the folks that are here enjoy this company very much, including myself.

quick hijack here...what are your SIC pilots typically getting hired at as far as hours?
I still have a ways to go but from what I have heard Alpha would seem like a real decent gig. My wife and I are originally from NH although the Marines have moved us to SoCal for a few, but after April of 07 and some hour building I will be looking for New England again.

Don't forget, only half of the time is logged as SIC. The other half, when we are flying dead legs I can log PIC when I'm flying. No type rating needed, just a high altitude endorsement. (I guess you need high performance and complex endorsements too but every commercial pilot has that.)

I log all of the time that I'm flying as PIC, unless its a 91k leg.
No one has to "let" me log anything. Ultimately the logbook is every pilot's responsibility. What the captain does with their logbook when I'm flying is another story. But that's their problem.
