Yep. Cost of doing business.
I have no doubt those A&Ps made a few more dollars towards Christmas presents if they were in fact contracted.
Cheaper than having assests sitting idle I'd guess.

Exactly...its no different than if the aircraft had gone AOG in the field, which they basically did due to the AD.

Besides, the date of the AD is Friday the 17th; I'd almost guarantee Avantair management had a plan in place to keep their planes flying with minimal operational impact before close of business on Friday. I mean really, look at the meat & potatoes of the inspection - its really not that labor-intensive.

If that required a little double or triple-time, then so be it - its a LOT cheaper than chartered lift.

They probably had ample heads-up that this was coming down (how many do they operate? Their fleet might have been the catalyst for the AD, too.), and I imagine they could have complied with it before it was official. Check the box, get them back in the air.
