Frontier apologists make me laugh. You guys laud the new expansions and will be left out of the profits. Before you cry foul you should look at the last few years. All this expansion will be predicated on our pilot group working for half wages.

Quote: At the end of the day, Frontier could care less about United. Apparently United is concerned, Kirby is talking about it. Go figure then.........
Kirby isn't talking about Frontier. An investor specifically asked him about Frontier on the Q2 call and he answered.

But let's make up more fantasy. He's sitting back in a fine leather chair right now in a robe with a brandy in one hand and cigar in the other while looking distraught into the fireplace when suddenly he bellows out, "D*MN YOU FRONTIER!!!!!" The brandy comes crashing to the floor as a concerned Oscar Munoz rushes into the room.

Oscar: Scott! Scott, what's wrong??

Kirby: It's Frontier! They've..they've got low fares... done.. right!

Oscar: (high pitched scream) NOOOOOO!!!!!

Lets see what happens to UAL stock when they start selling $29 tickets. It is a lose - lose for them. This silly scenario may be closer to reality than you might think.

UAL stock or Frontier stock?

United had a big network to generate revenue. Frontier is going to fly at a loss and try to run United out of DEN? New routes not starting until October - December timeframe? During the slow season? Why?

Ya a smart move by Frontier to try and go head-to-head with both SWA and United.

At least this guarantees United won't be buying Frontier, since DOJ would never approve a purchase of a competing hub carrier.

Also, if what they were doing worked so well, why try something different? Makes no sense at all to me.

Kirby went head to head with Spirit while he was at AA and got nowhere. In fact he rallied Spirits stock when they backed off by raising ticket prices. Now he's doing the same song and dance at United because he has no other answer.
Nobodies trying to run anyone out of Denver and Frontier makes money at $39 tickets so I'm not sure where your running at a loss statement comes from.
The legacies still haven't figured out that ULCC's don't look at them as competition. ULCC's compete with Greyhound, Amtrak and the automobile.

You don't work for Frontier do you? You've got that all wrong. You don't think frontier has already been competing with United? Do you know where Frontier has been based for the last 23 years? And frontier flying at a loss? We are one of the most profitable airlines.

We don't start new service until October because that's how airlines work. They like to be able to sell tickets before they fly the planes. I'm glad you aren't running an airline

You are right. I just saw how little Frontier pays their pilots. No wonder they can make money at $39 tickets. Too bad the profits are at employee expense.
