Prolong noise exposure over 70db causes hearing damage. Do 88 db for 25,000 hours and we will test your hearing at your retirement party. Huh?!

Agreed. Some airplanes are objectively louder than others. A220s and 737max both have astonishingly quiet cabins (haven’t been up front of either yet). Once I put my noise canceling buds in, it’s even quieter, but when I pop one out I realize just how noisy these quieter cabins still are. And I’ve heard for years the A320 fam has a quiet flight deck. Maybe quieter than this CRJ I’m about to leave behind, but good gravy it’s still noisy up there. On a 737 jump I just plug my Clarity Aloft in since it’s a great noise blocker, and wear my QC20 buds on the Airbus jumpseat.

I abhor the feeling in my ears when I pull one bud out of CA when a jumpseater wants to chat in the CRJ. I’m still mulling over my headset choice and I’m between a ProFlight, or a Telex 8 with a set of musician earplugs if I need to take one ear up off.

The bus is nice and quiet by B17 standards, sure. But it's still a very noisy environment to spend 25,000 hours. The avionics fans, recirc fans, 320 knot wind noise and the speaker cranked up to 11 to hear ATC all combine to make a loud plane to spend a significant amount of time.

Did you buy the “pro” or “lite” system from UFlymike? I’m kind of wondering if the Pro is worth the extra $50.

I did the light. But to be honest, I don't know the difference and I think I just bought the cheaper one because I'm a cheap guy.

Get the "long" mic though!

The website says the pro is more modular, and if you look closely at the pic of the cable box, you’ll notice it. On the pro, the box and intercom plugs are one unit and then there’s a separate cable from the headset mic that plugs into that box. In the light version, it’s all one piece. The wire from the mic to the box is hardwired in, it has those rubber flanges to prevent bending. The site claims you can swap cables and use the mic and headset to game on a PC, or plug into your phone for calls.

I’d go the cheaper option. But there’s a lot of good options out there these days. Avee, Nflight. Then this weekend I was reading up on Sony XM4 vs QC45 and found Crystal Mic.

Big head? Or do you wear the headset backward? I noticed uFly mentions getting the long one to wear it on the right side. Ever seen anyone do that?

Just get the long mic. They shouldn't even sell the short one. The long mic is the same length as the ship sets

I’m looking at purchasing the Telex 8+ because the 750s on the ships don’t work well enough for me. Has anyone used a Telex with ANR and been able to verify that works in our airplanes?
