It is a fact that the FAA slapped us with a 13+ million dollar fine. They reduced it to $475,000 if they use the other 12 and a half million to fix whatever happened. What exactly happened cannot be disclosed at this time, but it has to do with maintenance and it is a fact that our new aircraft will be put on hold until the problem is fixed. It will all be public record fairly soon. This isn't a rumor.

I've heard a few rumblings about this, but I haven't heard anything solid yet. I wonder if we were not completing some required inspections? I know that's a common issue that leads to maintenance fines by the FAA.
Hopefully the company is forced to invest some money into the maintenance department.

Not surprised when you hire guys 1 or 2 years out of A&P school to run your daily maintenance operation, simply because they will work for peanuts. Apprentices without a mentor. Ask an outstation mechanic, they'll tell you.

I guess Berry found that line, then.
Too bad all of those people/crews harmed in fume events had to be exposed to his maintenance cost-cutting escapades. Hopefully, ground operations, communications, and all other safety-related cost-cutting deficiencies get wrapped up in this.
If this is all true, and Berry has to put 12.5M into the operation, then did intentionally causing all of this disruption in the first place, plus .5M to the FAA, and hurting a bunch of people end up as a net-positive for this loser?
I hope this is true because of the increased risk to safety that we and the flying public have been subjected to.
I'm very glad Frontier won't be adding airplanes to the fleet in this environment.

Do we know that this is fume event related? Or is that just a guess?
I could see Biffle getting replaced over the past few months. If this FAA fine and action is true, coupled with the terrible operational problems, it can't be looking good for him.
If its true that the FAA won't allow us to take more planes for a while, this could be truly devastating to the airline. We have so many new routes planned, without the planes we won't be able to start some of these new routes. Can you imagine the PR of a new airline coming to town, announcing service, selling tickets, and then not being able to start service? Ouch.

I understand your line of thinking, but the goal should be to achieve an industry standard contract, not have the company go out of business.
