I have a couple thoughts about it though;

1) This fear has been discussed since we opened MIA and started some of the mountainous routes down there

2) Every airline is doing the same thing. Heck, The big airlines have significantly shorter upgrade times than we do.

3) In the interest of safety, I don't want to see the upgrade time get any shorter than it is now. It's an industry wide risk factor for sure.

4) We need to make some changes to our culture here where we discuss flying techniques and safety more. Some of the young FOs I fly with are such know it alls I fear they can't even be receptive to learning from me. At my old airline we were constantly learning and teaching. I don't think we do a very good job of that here.

5) If you find yourself flying in the mountains in Central America and there's weather you need to avoid, look for a different arrival or departure procedure to request/fly rather than taking vectors. It's safer to be on a published procedure than to be venturing off into vector/ deviation land.

In January we had our 3rd or 4th EGPWS event going into GUA. Everyone can keep burying their heads in the sand. I don't understand how this continues with an SMS system in place.

that’s the point. Dec and Jan attrition slowed down. Feb we were at 16 by the 8th. Barry claimed attrition is slowing, yes it did, over the holidays. If the trend continues in feb we will be back to the normal 30+ per month.

I think part of that attitude is just age - when you're young you know it all and everyone is just a dumb boomer - PLUS this hiring environment. I think it's easy for some to confuse a permissive hiring environment with their abilities/experience/whatever personal merit reason they believe they were hired. [/size]

Next Christmas we will all be in SJU. Maybe they will close Denver.

Are we still there only ALPA carrier that doesn't do specialized training going there? Not only is it challenging, we do it as a red eye turn. Wild.

Does anyone know when Frontier is going to start interviewing again?

Frontier recruiters don't even know the answer to that question.

But put it this way...there are dozens (hundreds?) of pilots in the pool and hundreds (thousand?) of cadets in the pipeline. We can only manage about 60 pilots per month at full throttle. We will likely continually hire a few OTS that don't need the ATP-CTP course but if you're looking to get hired as a cadet or R-ATP it's gonna be a while.

Is Frontier still actively hiring? Thanks!

Last I heard interviews we're being scheduled about 2 months out. I have my app in and thought I would be very competitive but haven't heard a thing.

brometheus 02-19-2024 01:41 PM

I got an email from HR at the end of January saying even they don't know when interviews will resume. I'm not a cadet or R-ATP if that makes any difference.

Does anybody know if we are supposed to get CBTs or any study material before class? In the March class and still haven't seen or heard anything about any study material.

I am curious, did they acknowledge you are in the waiting pool? Going to out my app in soon myself and I can wait for a while, just that your app being reviewed or in line to be reviewed is kind of nice to know.

I'm not sure you're going to see much interviewing prior to June. The hiring pool is backed up by at least 6 months.

I emailed recruitment and was told they would start reviewing apps sometime in the future. I was hoping for a May interview as that is the only time I can get off and I wouldn't be able to start until fall but doesn't look like I'll get a May interview. My son is in the March 18th class and I would love to be somewhere that he could be sitting next to me on my retirement flight. I'm 58 with 12k TT 11k TPIC A320 type with an internal recommendation.

I wish you all the best, sir. You'll see everything will turn out fine in the end, I'm sure. I have a contract with my regional until late fall, so I'm just trying to figure out when to start the process as things seem to be slowing down everywhere. But since I'm only 11 years behind you, I'm also looking for the last stop before retirement. Keep in touch!

Awesome! Thanks for keeping us posted. I'm also planning to polish my interview skills with Lori, heard she's the go-to person for Frontier. I know the competition is going to be tough and I want to nail it on the first try. So I'll take some time for that.

Highly recommend Lori, nothing but good things to say about her and Todd.

New Hire Classes Cancelled

Bad newz.

Hiring is about to stop at F9/Industry wide. Rain repellant shortage. At least half the fleet will be grounded in the next 120 days in an effort to preserve a commodity that is now more valuable than fuel. An industry wide shortage will mean all Air Transport Category aircraft will lose their IFR certification once reserve supplies are depleted.

Boeing, P&W, and now Rain X.

Keep an eye on your emails from the recruiting team. Warn notices are all but inevitable at this point.

Let’s all pray we can get through this one….. I fear the worst has yet to come….

Fleet grounded due to rain repellent? Just a little over dramatic there.
