Quote: And regionals serving a number of moderate size towns are dying, both opening up gates and creating a demand for flying to hubs with larger aircraft. Probably not going to be able to do it much more economically than with a 319NEO, and NK has those on order.
Franke will still be at the wheel when this thing is said and done so I wouldn’t be surprised to see those 319 orders converted to 320/321. I don’t see this merger changing the focus of the airline, which is “V-Routes” with high capacity and strategic frequency. Everybody assumes F9 will be more like NK with their route/pairing structure but I’m not so sure. Why diverge away from the path they’ve set out upon?

The V route model works for an airline the size of Frontier or G4. Something tells me when you get to the size of Alaska, JetBlue, or SWA 20 years ago it’s more cost efficient and cost effective to do more multi day trips. If it really is cheaper why don’t the other airlines do it? Everyone is looking to cut costs everywhere they can.

Maybe…. But he’s 84. He may be retired by then, one way or another. I wish the man nothing but the best personally, but his number of years left to enjoy retirement are fast dwindling.

The demise of the regionals means a lot of open gates at hubs. It’s an opportunity. It would be a sin to pass it up…

This is exactly why we stand strong on keeping the 4 days off that NK currently has. That will kill the turns. However pilots can waive it if they choose to. Win Win

chatting to a few NK folks; the 319neos were ordered because of their range. Indigo loves them 321s; and now they have 2 long range variants. If those 319’s aren’t slated for delivery in the next 12-18 months expect them to be upgauged to 321n LR or XLR…
