11/17 MEC Special Update

Brodacious dudes, we are off to a great start. It's obvious that management is overwhelmed by running this airline. We need to take more off their plate. I for one will be going to Costco to get my own c-folds, trash bags, and toilet paper, as it's clear that it's just to difficult for them to manage. I know everyone can find a way to help out and make management's job easier so it better matches their capabilities.
Just yesterday, catering stocked a broken airplane but then flat out refused to transfer the carts over the the new tail (gates were right next to each other!!!). We were told to either go with zero or get the items ourselves. I don't get how F9 would let catering just flat out refuse like that. They lost out on SO much ancillary revenue with a packed flight of holiday travelers.

You may as well just start a catering company and undercut the current one by 1 dollar...

Legacies aren’t really hurting for pilots, but they’re doing pretty well in bargaining. Seems like when they (or I guess their union) see Major Airline A gets such and such pay and benefits, then Major Airline B tries to match or do A+1 or whatever. I see no reason why Frontier and others can’t fight for more and take advantage of rising tides. I’m coming here to get away from the regional life, for many of the QOL reasons you guys cite, and for the hope pay and benefits continue to increase.

It’s called pattern bargaining. As F9 gets larger, you will be more of a data point for the “Majors”. It’s important to be on par. SWA went through that. At one time they were small and it seems only pilots that couldn’t get hired elsewhere went there for the most part. That all gradually changed and became a very good place to work. Contracts got much better. Nowadays their contract is used to compare during negotiations with other “Majors”.
They had GREAT management that was more interested in running an airline and taking care of their employees than squeezing every nickel they could get out of them.

Yeah. Major difference in mgt/employee relationship although it’s soured some in recent years at SWA.
