To use your example, if Yellow trucking couldn’t afford to pay their drivers within the industry range, then no, they shouldn’t have been in the trucking industry.

If F9 can’t afford to pay their pilots within industry range, same thing. They don’t really have a choice. If you don’t pay employees what they’re worth within a reasonable margin, you aren’t going to have employees and your company will fail anyway.

like others have said, we are not paid to ensure the company is profitable, we are paid to fly planes…safely, efficiently, and all that jazz…..and just like the people who ARE paid to make sure the company is profitable, the position has a cost associated with it.

this pretty much sums up my feelings on it as well.

One thought: if you all go to day trips and small bases - PLEASE LIVE IN BASE. the QOL is lightyears better living in base and flying day trips. those of us at allegiant that have tried to commute have been miserable. most commuters end up leaving because the lifestyle is so miserable. allegiant day trips are not commutable for the most part so it is a lot of time in crash pads and/or terrible hotels. just my two cents.

we have some pilots that have terrible QOL (mostly junior reserve pilots in florida), but the vast majority of pilots have pretty great QOL and would leave allegiant in heartbeat if they consolidated bases and started doing mostly multi-day trips (currently 99% of our trips are out and back day trips).

I get that, but frontier is currently not profitable and forecast to continue that way. It will be an uphill battle getting increases. Every other industry declines raises during times they are not profitable.

This is exactly why I just heard that Frontier is now paying less for jet fuel and gate space than the more profitable airlines.

Check your ALPA email, their proposed rates are in there. Very appropriate and market rate, I hope actual numbers are very close to those.

More than one green Kool-Aid Captain has said that (good for them for being positive, but...)

While it is just a proposal today’s email should further clarify your previous captains positions.

Yeaahhh. The Unions economic proposal. Meanwhile the company proposes egregious damage
to our scheduling flexibility and reserve rules. Right. You can hope all you want, but, better keep an eye on everything else that is important as well.

can you share what those rates are? At Allegiant, our union Pres had told us that the RLA prohibits him from sharing any info about negotiations.

id love to know what your union is proposing to make sure we are not negotiating to be the bottom of the market again (I’m at Allegiant).

I don't know the legality of the RLA with respect to sharing proposals but this is prior to any actual negotiations. These rates are the unions initial economic proposal. No negotiations or counter by the company has been made yet. Couple random ones for you:

1st year FO: $100
2nd year FO: $180
12th year FO: $249

3rd year CA: $339
8th year CA: $352
12 year CA: $364

These are the proposed rates for 2024

I think they did provide a counter. "Go pound sand."

These talks are barely able to be classified as "Negotiations"
