well. When I worked at AlleGiant I did exactly that quite often. Two crews that swapped on the turn. No hotel needed.

That seems like a huge waste of money.

well … the promise of being home every night is the lube for a lot of bull**** at allegiant. Management really wants crews to accept a lot of sub standard idiocy… “but you’re home every night”

management knows how important the home every night element is to staffing. They are getting a good ROI on those double crewed turns.

Home every night IF you live in base. And driving back and forth to the aiport every single day? No thanks! Might as well have a regular 9-5! Actually, not. A regular 9-5 I could most likely work remote and not have to drive back and forth at all!

Double crewing turns is usually done as a result of the schedule. Allegiant has much lower aircraft utilization. Happened on Apple vacations stuff at F9 when we didn’t have enough flying out of PUJ and crews were overnighting there for 2-3 days at a time. They started deadheading a crew back.

Ha! I joked with my wife about this exact issue recently. She has a 9-5 but doesn’t even have an office in town so is home full time. In the mean time I am starting to rack up the miles on the ole clunker. Let’s hope the Union is able to negotiate that % day trip proposal.

Back in the first version of the ORD base, there was a period of time when F9 did the double-crew PUJ and SJU turns. I’m sure they would do it again.

Oh I understand but that’s exactly what the overwhelming majority of pilots at G4 want and why they are fine staying.

I hope you live close to the airport. Anything more than thirty minute drive gets old real fast.

I live 15 min from an Allegiant base. Their contract, the instability per se and everything I know about that operation is why I chose F9 (more stable financially, long term, growth etc.) Now here I am 6 to 9 months later and in quite a spot huh .... FML

Meh

no crystal ball. I might be sending you a PM one day asking for a recommendation at frontier.
