If you were looking at moving, it depends on what you want from where you live. But if you move to any of the top departure bases aside from DEN, I am sure you will have a stable and fine time here.

(I am sure people will come and tell me how Frontier will just close bases willy nilly and that planning anything other than leaving here is dumb though.)

I think as far as taking risks moving for Frontier goes, Orlando and Vegas are the safest bets

...until the displacements come for CVG and CHI and whatever "tropical" base they go for next.

You did see the last displacement bid right? It should be clear where they’re pulling the majority from this time.

Orlando is where I'd like to be at, the majority of my family is there. Hoping to be able to finish training and get there asap.

Highly debatable.

In the OPs case he should consider waiting a little (displacement outcome, gain seniority, actually staying at F9)

. But, to say to never move, even for f9, is over the top.

I agree. There's risk and reward with most decisions.

Comuting sucks. Moving sucks. Making hard decisions sucks. But if you already want to move, Orlando is probably the absolute safest place you could move for a pilot domicile for Frontier

If I decide to move my family to MCO it's a long term play in which I have chosen F9 as my career airline for atleast the time being. We're really trying to setup up roots to where we can raise a family. Outside of Denver I wouldt think MCO is the safest F9 base when it comes to probablity of not closing (the mouse ain't going anywhere any time soon...) I think this next year will be really telling for what the direction of F9 is and where they are going long term... This time next year, I'll have a year of senority and would assume I would be safe from a discplamnet on the FO side..... When it comes for upgrade I will probably have to wait and get above a threshold to most likely secure not being discplaced for future base oppenings. For now, we will stay put here in the southwest until we see what other oppertunities come our way over the next year

My biggest reasonings for MCO is
  • base stablility/chance for career progression
  • decent weather - highly subjective.... I know
  • activities to keep family happy about location
  • and the other draws that Florida in general has to offer...

We are open to other places in the south, but the days of shoveling a drive way and not seeing the sun for 3 weeks at a time are done for us and have no intrests in a base like CVG or CLE for the long term play.

Watch the displacement bid VERY closely. I predict MCO is about to become just like DEN. People already living in MCO will probably be displaced or stuck on eternal reserve. Some will live in MCO and commute to other bases to gain schedule and vacation only with the hope of "one day" being back in MCO. If you're ok being an FO for life MCO should be great. But if you want to be a CA in MCO...wouldn't recommend.
