Why not just raise the rates? Hiring and retention bonuses are so 2017...

Wow GoJet, you never fail to disappoint. During a time of critical staffing, when other airlines are offering $45,000 for a street captain, the GoJet solution is a paltry $3,000. I'm sure such a hearty incentive will stop the exodus.

So to recap the GoJet "package"

you get intentional misinterpretation of the contract. such as 4hr min day at 150%, somehow still only pays 4hrs??

You get unilateral and non negotiated changes to the status quo of the contract. Bidding 2 days of reserve

You get lies claiming the FAA is forcing them to fail you on AQP events. Currently a grievance by the union

Oh and you get a Whole $3,000 bonus if you help them get through the busy summer and holiday flying

I'd say its pretty obvious the management at GoJet is maintaining visual with their own prostate.

Obviously raises are the answer, The company and the union met back in I think May to discuss raises and the company actually had the audacity to ask for concessions.

They union made the correct choice (imo) and walked away. Then the company unilaterally imposed the reserve bidding concession anyway.

Like it or not, we are in a period where there is an absence of well-qualified applicants for both FO and captain positions. That is ultimately going to force regionals who are unwilling - or unable - to satisfactorily compensate their pilots and compete for new hires to curtail peak time of year flying and eventually go out of business altogether. Regional managements who attempt to address this lack of applicants through smoke and mirrors or through depending on their qualified personnel to stick around because they have seniority they don't want to lose will be among the first to go out of business.

Right now many of them, like GoJet, seem to be in denial of this new reality. Before the end of summer I think many of the regional managements - the surviving ones anyway - will have had their eyes opened. This is no longer a problem that might bite them years down the road, it's a problem that will be biting them in a few weeks.

So, an FO in his 4th year now making 43 an hour credits 1000 for the year gets 43000 a year for 3 years is 129000, plus 5000 in bonuses total 134,000.

The pilot hired two years later, making 41,000 for 3 years is 123000. he gets $25,000 in bonuses totaling 164,000.

So, the guy hired 2 years after you makes 35000 more than you do.

The company is not allowed to pay pilots outside of the collective bargaining agreement.

If you're an RTP candidate, would the 26k for fixed wing training come out of the bonus, or would this be on top of it?

I feel like I already know the answer, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

It comes out of the initial 26k. Only plus is they take what you use from the backside bonus payments first.

At least the first guy would have seniority and therefore a better QOL. Money can’t buy that
