Guys/ gals....
This is important...
Get a few people together and have a few drinks and remember what life / world is all about...
Lets not ruin space by putting bombs up there...
Celebrate Yuri's night and have a few drinks for the guys that died pushing the 'envelope' for all mankind...

Yuri Gagarin was the first human to go into space on April 12th, 1961. The US Space Shuttle first launched on April 12th, 1981. Yuri's Night is like the St Patricks Day or Cinco de Mayo for space. It is one day when all the world can come together and celebrate the power and beauty of space and what it means for each of us. Join us!
"Circling the Earth in my orbital spaceship I marveled at the beauty of our planet. People of the world, let us safeguard and enhance this beauty — not destroy it!"

The value for all peoples to join in a noble purpose is good but this particular hero will not do. Yurii Gagarin, despite being an early hero of the space race, was a pawn of a communist regime... a regime we all agree was thoroughly bad news. By glorifying him you are indirectly glorifying his communist proponents.
In the meantime, our own space program was almost its equal in 1961 and has plenty of qualified heroes who acheived just as much in the name of democracy. To expand humanity into the upper atmosphere and go where no human has gone before is noble but this hero didn't stand only for that. We do.
I agree we should not pollute space, and thus far we as humans are not doing very well on this count. Satellite tracks around the earth are polluted with space junk which has no way to get removed other than gradual orbital decay.
Let us choose an American astronaut as long as we count ourselves as Americans and as long as we enjoy the benefits and freedoms here. There are many heroes to choose from and I do not think it is shortsighted to choose one who is American because we acheived more to boost the mission of exploring space than any other country in the end.
Cheers dude! (Is it Prairie Air Service now, or still just the one flight school? )
