MAGA2020 / Drag Queen Thread

Does it bother anyone here that all of a sudden someone who has never posted shows up on an obviously hot button thread and posts? Not a single post until now? I have seen this before, on other public enthusiast forums. Forums generally considered pretty far out of the mainstream for most people. Weird cars, boats, hobbies, etc. Yet, these guys swoop in when a topic veers toward their politics. It's remarkable.

I prefer to argue, agree, disagree, etc with those I share the profession with. Namely other PILOTS, not "somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds" who was triggered by what, exactly, to sign up and post here? The number of people carrying an ATP in their wallet is very, very small. The number of them employed by United is microscopic. To me, this is the single biggest zit on the face of this forum. And this is why I prefer the UA pilots forum.

We got into a hot mess because a total loser ran to mommy with posts there. Imagine what could happen here with the whole world welcome to post, copy, paste elsewhere, etc. I think it stinks.

"It could be Russia, but it could also be China. It could also be lots of other people," he said during the first presidential debate. "It also could be somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds."

50% chance it was one of the guys on that thread that felt bad about being called out on their... 'opinions'.

Oldmako has a point: Threads which morph into sociocultural mud wrestling tend to attract belligerent posts from all sides. There has been Administrator-level concern that we let this one go on too long. From now on, expect to see such flaming pie fights get an immediate transfer to Hangar Talk, or be closed.

Any involvement from Ooff seems to be the canary in the coal mine for a thread’s imminent deterioration.

People seriously seem to get upset when their opinions are challenged.

I was nothing but civil throughout that thread, yet received personal attacks, insults, etc..

I don't always agree with the OOfffster, but he is not the guy who resorts to ad hominems in a debate.

I actually agree with Ooff in almost every way. It's the delivery method and the sheer unwillingness to walk away that kills me. And the double standard.

At some point, you need to realize you will NEVER change anybody’s mind, and vice versa.

I’m not willing to sit around and let people call homosexuals “disgusting,” use gender as an insult, questioning people’s dignity, and other things that happened in that thread. Letting people say those things, here or in the cockpit, simply perpetuates it.

And what “double standard?”
