Propoganda...........
It is amazing. I knew that since jungle posted it, it had to be some sort of propoganda against global warming. So I answered the questions with the answers I thought the quiz was "looking for", and I got most of them right! Hmm......
Global warming is happening. Climate change is for real. Humans are contributing to the problem.
I recommend you watch An Inconvenient Truth.
The best source I have for this information is somewhat biased. I know this. But it is a great starting point to get motivated to explore the topic further. It will educate you with the facts, and you can decide for yourself. If you have not seen it, then get off your butt and rent it.

I really don't feel like having this debate, so I am going to post some FACTS and then I will never open this thread again.
Everyone has heard of the acronym NOAA. Its the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. But what fewer people know is what division of the government they fall under. It's the Department of Commerce. Interesting? Why would a weather research facility fall under the department of commerce. Well, they estimate that the weather has an affect of more than $3 TRILLION dollars of commerce every year. Let me say that again...
Weather affects more than $3 TRILLION dollars of commerce every year!!
With respect to global warmining and climate change, there are really four important questions:
Now I have not heard ANYONE, ANYONE at all deny questions one and two. The Earth is getting warmer and humans are contributing to the problem. Is water vapor the number one cause of global warming. Yes, it absolutely is. But that is not the point. That is natural. What is unnatural is the staggering amount of green house gases we are releasing into the atmosphere. And that is causing unnatural global warming!
Number 3 is where the disagreement begins. If I told you the weather was going to be 5 degrees warmer this summer than it usually is, you would not care. Neither would I. 5 degrees does not seem like a big deal. But you have no idea the amount of things a few degrees effect. Also, while the average temperature over the past X years has only gone up 1 degree at the equator, it is about 12 degrees warmer at the north pole. Polar ice caps are melting. No debate here either. This has two, possibly three major effects.
For one, ice is known to reflect 90% of the suns rays. Meanwhile, water absorbs about 90% of the suns rays. So for every piece of ice that melts at the poles, the problem is getting increasingly worse.
Two, if icecaps continue melting, there will eventually be a worldwide rise in sea level. I live in a coastal area and would like to continue living here. An Inconvenient Truth has a great scene where they show what land would be covered under water if certain ice caps melted. 20ft rise would mean much of Southern Florida, parts of Manhatten, and lots of the SF Bay Area would be underwater. And these weren't even the bad ones. How about China and India. The two areas they showed (that would eventually be underwater) were home to 100 MILLION people!
Three, melting ice is what sent Europe into their last ice age. Heat transfer in our planet happens by a series of ocean currents (eg. the Gulfstream). I cannot explain it nearly as well as in An Inconvenient Truth. You will have to see the movie to understand that idea.
The big disagreement is over the question "What do we do to fix this?" It is a tough question. I know that. It undoubtably will have a somewhat negative affect on our current economy. I think this is where most of the opponents of global warming are coming from. They don't know/care much about the science and effects, they care about how a educated politicians/public could make decisions that will harm their industry (eg. OIL COMPANIES!). Jungle is a supporter of oil companies. But rather than dig up those threads, lets try to place ourselves in their shoes. Say you owned an oil company. Oil is undoubtably causing global warming. The solution to fixing global warming does not involve oil (or a dramatic cut in its use). What do you do?? What oil companies have been doing for the past 30 years. Not let it happen, and smear anyone who tries to bring the issue to the publics attention...
The big point I want to make in this thread is for the people who believe fixing global warming will harm the economy, so lets not doing anything about it. What they fail to realize is the fact I quoted you earlier. Weather affects more than $3 TRILLION dollars of commerce every year!! If we let global warming go on much longer, we will see a far greater economic impact than anyone can imagine. Think about all the industries weather affects!
The public needs to be educated about global warming. I have not found a better resource than An Inconvenient Truth. If you find one, then by all means I will check it out. But nothing I have found so far does such a thorough and factual discussion about global warming than An Inconvenient Truth. We can try and legislate policies, but the fact is that any major change in our green house gas output is going to come through a scientific innovation. I want people to become educated about global warming. I want them to conserve where they can conserve. Buy efficient when they can. Support politicians who support funding alternative energy. If that happens, our global warming crisis can be solved.

This would certainly point up the need to start warming things up right away before that next ice age starts, what with all the melting and all. Good luck with reversing the trend Earth has been following for the last 18,000 years.

Well, it is certainly one of them. I would add Social Security, the 55 MPH speed limit, "progressive" taxation, the need for further experiments in socialism, and the folly of believing that politicians are going to save us from ourselves.
This is from a strictly apolitical viewpoint.
