Hey guys I’m most likely headed down that road. I’m heart broken and in shock. Any advice or thoughts on going through this as an airline pilot?

Sorry to hear that. Don’t fly if you can’t focus on the job at hand. Take the time off to make sure you are in a good place before you strap on that jet and add to your level of stress.

What does she think you did? Sorry to hear this...I think we flew together on 777. Weren’t you in DC?

If you are gonna go down that road...bid down to NB FO and fly a min schedule. Minimize your pay if you can afford to do it.

Document, Document, Document, and if it's legal record all phone conversations and in person conversations.

Scan or photograph important papers and store in the cloud with a password the spouse won't be able to guess.

Been down this road, all will be better. Age, state, kids, and length of marriage play a big part into all of this. Everyone’s situation is different, get a very well paid lawyer of the opposite sex and roll from there.

That is absolutely the worst possible advice you can give. The courts can and absolutely will impune income. So after down bidding the the court will still take an income based on prior or future earnings and your now stuck at a lower pay category.

If she has a really smart lawyer, they'll also subpoena the contract and the onus is on the pilot trying to explain our pay without her lawyer cherry picking the best possible income scenario.

To the OP.....this sounds harsh but life goes on. I thought at one time I had the perfect wife/mom/friend/lover and never could've believed at the time that she went off the deep end. No warning, zero issues between us. Now ten years after of her walking out, looking back at how much better my life has become and seeing her for the person she truly is without being emotionally attached is shocking I was even involved with her. Change is hard......even if the situation is lousy to begin with.

Stay healthy emotionally and physically. It takes a couple of relationships to break free of her emotional grip but you will. Do everything possible to concentrate on your career and find new hobbies. Rely on friends. Once thing is certain your true friends will stick with you.

Not knowing the situation, be very careful about being alone with her without witnesses. Research lawyers and don't get the cheapest one you can find. I found one of the most hardcore female attorneys in the known galaxy and she was worth every penny.

It will work out. It always does.

ps Stay away from flight attendants!

Why are all of you assuming its a wife/she/her? Last thing this person needs is that assumption and feeling they could not correct it, would add to their pain.
