Default How high is the smoke in WA?

Any pireps from folks our flying in the SEA or PDX area lately with the smoke? How thick is it? Any chance Paradise at Mt. Rainier (6000 ft?) is above it?

FL 250 yesterday around the PDX area.

SFO was FL 300.

Today it was down to 6K in central CA, though.

Pirep:

SEA area Sep. 12th 1700 local. Smoke tops around FL230. Saw the runway at 500’ on landing. Sun? Barely visible on the ground.

Picked up the smoke in PHX today and arrived with it in MSP.

Sounds like no respite in sight. Thanks everybody. I knew it was bad this morning when I could look directly at the sun two hours after sunrise. Grim.

Flew out Saturday and went into the smoke at about 100-200 ft, popped out around 15,000. Worst I’ve ever seen it, thick smoke. The smell was strong, would have thought we were on fire if I hadn’t known it was smoke in the air.

I actually got aloft today and found the smoke to only be up to 5000 or so. Just clouds above that. The tiny bit of rain we had yesterday may have helped.

Yesterday smoke tops around 12.5. I could actually make out the tops of Rainier. There was also a layer from 7000 to 6000 that I could clearly make out the Olympics from SEA downwind.
