The regional carrier received $195 million from the US Treasury Department during the first quarter as a five-year loan under the CARES Act programme. It also expects to receive a total of $49 million in payroll support from the US Treasury by the time the programme expires on 31 March.
Perhaps a timely (and painless) gesture tied to a future contact extension? Not a bad move.

In previous downturns, OO bailed out UAL and IIRC, ZW bailed out US in exchange for flying. Pay to play isn't a new thing.

Yep, this is nothing new. I remember OO had UAL gates/slots as collateral at one point too.

IIRC, RAH/Wexford was in on that too with USAir.

Also, IIRC, had the OO loan payback gone to full term, the interest paid would have been crazy.

Yep, memory fuzzy at this point but something to the tune of ~30% rings a bell.

I think it is not a bad idea for a better future.
