Wonder if this will work any better, Watson?

Tomorrow on ABC news : FAA User Fees

Free Flight has been around and talked about seriously for the past 15 years...who knows when any of it will take hold. User fees are the answer! cough.

I had no idea UPS was trying out that new radar in their airplanes. Looks like it could really help out in the long run.

I heard on CNN this morning that one of the main reasons for airline delays is "private jets" hogging airspace.

Hmmm, I wonder who provided them with that information?

I'm sure Capt Karen Lee is a great Captain, but the sound bytes they picked to play from her were silly.

"It's like flying with a paper bag over your head." Makes me wonder if she's had a paper bag over her head before?

There was also something hinting that this would help with Global Warming? I doubt it since the overall goal of the project is to get more airplanes into the air.

Sorry Capt Lee; I blame ABC's editing.

We do need to modernize the ATC system. But user fees aren't the way to do it. Our government is slowly eating itself due to decades of lax fiscal responsibility. And the airlines are doing everything they can to persuade Congress that those "private jets" have all the extra money and should pay for the upgrade. It's the game of "Pass the Buck."

THe Airlines are the reason the Airspace exists in the first place, other wise GA would have minimal impact on the Airspace system. Its a public safety issue anyways, why should farmer john have to pay $6 a gallon for something that is in the public interest? People who drive everyday don't have to tip the traffic cop when they drive through his intersection...its just something the government is responsible for, free of charge.
