Russian jamming leaves some high-tech U.S. weapons ineffective in Ukraine

Confidential Ukrainian assessments obtained by The Washington Post show how accuracy rates of some Western weapons fell after Russian jamming disrupted guidance systems.

KYIV — Many U.S.-made satellite-guided ammunitions in Ukraine have failed to withstand Russian jamming technology, prompting Kyiv to stop using certain types of Western-provided armaments after effectiveness rates plummeted, according to senior Ukrainian military officials and confidential internal Ukrainian assessments obtained by The Washington Post.

Russia’s jamming of the guidance systems of modern Western weapons, including Excalibur GPS-guided artillery shells and the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or HIMARS, which can fire some U.S.-made rockets with a range of up to 50 miles, has eroded Ukraine’s ability to defend its territory and has left officials in Kyiv urgently seeking help from the Pentagon to obtain upgrades from arms manufacturers.

Russia’s ability to combat the high-tech munitions has far-reaching implications for Ukraine and its Western supporters — potentially providing a blueprint for adversaries such as China and Iran — and it is a key reason Moscow’s forces have regained the initiative and are advancing on the battlefield

Default Here is one week’s worth of Hub’s ad hominems

...and insults, gathered in one place for your reading pleasure. And he calls me obsessed... for crying out loud😂. Meanwhile he can't post rationally on the actual topic of the thread...which he originated 😂

the desperation is strong. He is a bot. Treat him as such. He doesn’t deserve any normal humans genuine time except as dopamine fodder for long sits. The idea that he believes he’s actually informing people is just kind if amazing. Not a single person stepped forth when asked in chat. It must be a form of psychosis that I honestly don’t understand.

its honestly fascinating to watch

shells are only from iowa….no they’re not…..well anyway……

This dude is just a joke…just have fun with him, he isnt capable of rational civil discourse, and you will never get him to acknowledge any fault. Imagine flying with him…..yikes

he post “THIS robert gates?” With caps like a child that cant state his position succinctly and clearly, but the articles all support the bots previous positions lol.

nato bad
afghan bad
biden bad

so to be clear, gates is suddenly persona non grata when his view doesn’t align with the bots? All very confusing

i dont think this bot even knows what its doing anymore…..have pity

sweet 8lb baby jesus, stop wiggling and answer the question.

mine is give ukraine as much **** as it needs with no restrictions (i need a disclaimer for the bot and say not our top tier secret stuff or nukes even though that’s common sense)

a normal rational human would internalize this and reflect on their behavior and how they are spending their time, but something tells me this wont be the case.

it would be funny if it wasnt sad. too bad this thread got hijacked by some desperate russian troll…..oh well, its still entertaining to pop in here and view the train wreck on my sits

remember…..not a single person answered its question except drunk fortune cookie riddler. No one of sound mind would invest this much energy into a place where they are not receiving mutually beneficial back and forth discourse.

obsession and low self esteem are the only things i can think of that would drive this form of psychosis

Komrad Kargo - you missed Gorbachev and his foreign minister saying the U.S. and NATO never promised to not expand NATO. It's interesting that your 'research' always finds the Putin talking points.

Actually it was the West German Prime Minister wanting Soviet Union permission for reunification that actually lead Gorbachev along. That was clearly established. I never claimed there was any treaty signed by the US and ratified by the Senate sayubg that - nir for that matter is there one for US military support to Ukraine for that matter. And NATO as an entity can't making any such promise in any event since it only accepts new members unanimously. Any existing current member can blackball newbies.

But this didn't start with Putin either. Boris Yeltsin made it crystal clear to Bill Clinton in 1994 that the Russian government thought they were being double-crossed.

https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/briefing-b...pest-blow-1994

An excerpt:

The Yeltsin eruption on December 5, 1994, made the top of the front page of the New York Timesthe next day, with the Russian president’s accusation (in front of Clinton and other heads of state gathered for a summit of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, CSCE) that the “domineering” U.S. was “trying to split [the] continent again” through NATO expansion. The angry tone of Yeltsin’s speech echoed years later in his successor Vladimir Putin’s famous 2007 speech at the Munich security conference, though by then the list of Russian grievances went well beyond NATO expansion to such unilateral U.S. actions as withdrawal from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and the invasion of Iraq.

The new documents, the result of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by the National Security Archive, include a series of revelatory “Bill-Boris” letters in the summer and fall of 1994, and the previously secret memcon of the presidents’ one-on-one at the Washington summit in September 1994. Clinton kept assuring Yeltsin any NATO enlargement would be slow, with no surprises, building a Europe that was inclusive not exclusive, and in “partnership” with Russia. In a phone call on July 5, 1994, Clinton told Yeltsin “I would like us to focus on the Partnership for Peace program” not NATO. At the same time, however, “policy entrepreneurs” in Washington were revving up the bureaucratic process for more rapid NATO enlargement than expected either by Moscow or the Pentagon,[1] which was committed to the Partnership for Peace as the main venue for security integration of Europe, not least because it could include Russia and Ukraine.[2]

The new documents include insightful cables from U.S. Ambassador to Moscow Thomas Pickering, explaining Yeltsin’s new hard line at Budapest as the result of multiple factors. Not least, Pickering pointed to “strong domestic opposition across the [Russian] political spectrum to early NATO expansion,” criticism of Yeltsin and his foreign minister, Andrei Kozyrev, as too “compliant to the West,” and the growing conviction in Moscow that U.S. domestic politics – the pro-expansion Republicans’ sweep of the Congressional mid-term elections in November 1994 – would tilt U.S. policy away from taking Russia’s concerns into account.
Now seriously. - Kargo???

Aren't you man (or woman, I don't know your gender or pronouns) enough to have an academic discussion without a lot of childish name calling? As my Latin teacher in high school used to say, "pro pudor."

Clearly no Pancho’s in his viper unit I'll say that much. How do we resolve the all too obvious disconnect between the cringeworthy personal rants with who ‘it’ self identifies as? Disinformation, false flag flaming runs in both directions. If there’s botism at play here, hubcap posting screed lines up right as any other suspect.

To step away from character for a moment, any real value here comes out of some conflict in position or bias. You may advocate as many kilo tonnes we got direct on Stalingrad, don’t know. But much prefer a poster claim that and mean it than pretend not to. I think we’re getting the best out of Ex, Qmax & Lowslug. Hub, not so much. IOW, alter ego, fine. Altered message, negative ghost rider. Pattern full…participate..don’t be a twat.

It's not an 'academic discussion' when you constantly push Putin's talking points. I notice you didn't address Gorbachev or his foreign minister saying "there was no promise about NATO not expanding to the east." Clinton even said "I can't make unilateral decisions telling NATO it can't take on new members." (paraphrased). Where's your academic discussion about following Putin's word over everyone elses?

the bot wont. It never addresses anything that doesn’t fit its narrative. Thats why its an enormous waste of time. It lies, twists words, cherry picks articles, and otherwise has no intention of rational back and forth.

its a bot…..treat it as such

i can’t understand this rambling…..please stop drinking when you post. In a way you are alot like komrade kargo in that you’ve executed a form of behavior that multiple people have attempted to enlighten you on, and yet you refuse to change.

you reap what you sow…..this is apc, you and the bot dont get a free pass when you act like knuckleheads. How else am I supposed to get my entertainment while sitting in bna?

The irony of all your crying is that you still have not educated me on your clear and succinct plan to end the war…..… lets go sunshine…..whats your plan?
