Military recruitment…
I know they are getting desperate, but I’m not sure that getting a few of your friends to join up ought to get you promoted. Or a ribbon. Meaningful awards and decs get demeaned by nonsense trash.
And rank ought to denote experience and achievement, not just talking your friends into joining up.

For years the USMC had only one “gimme” which was the National Defense. Then the GWOT came along. Other than that it was just the good cookie after a few years.
*This doesn’t include the O ranks of O5 and above and their HABU ribbons (bronze stars.)*

Clearly not. They undoubtedly coordinated off on the thing. Promoting people ahead of their peers for getting their buds to join up rather than their experience and qualifications, may or may not affect readiness and combat capability however. They might eventually be in charge of maintaining your aircraft - or mistakenly shooting it down. Especially at thr E-5/6 level.
