#1
On the lighter side, I am takin some buddies out to LA for a Dodger game in mid Sept. Where is a good place to stay? Do we need to rent a car? Anybody have any tix to the Dodger-D'backs series on 9/14-9/16?

Thrifty Rent a Car was giving airline folks cars for $20 a day. I don't know if its just a local thing as I would just show up at their location on Century Blvd. and ask. If I was taking it just for the day, they would give me a better car than the normal sub-compact.
I don't know of any hotels really (walking) close.

The closest hotel to Dodger Stadium that doesn't have predominantly bad reviews is the Days Inn (711 N. Main). There are several that are closer, but it's not the best part of town, so good reviews might be worth considering.
This Days Inn is approximately a mile from the stadium, so it is possible to walk. I would consider walking myself, but I would not recommend it if you are not familiar with the area.
If you're adventurous, it's also possible to take the metro from the airport (I assume you're flying into LAX) to this Days Inn, so you wouldn't need a car at all.
Take the green line toward town, switch to the blue line at Imperial/Wilmington, switch to either the red or purple line at 7th Street/Metro Center, switch to the yellow line at Union Station, and get off at the next stop (Chinatown). Walk south on Alameda Street for .3 miles, then turn right on North Main.
Although this sounds extensive, it might take you just as long to drive the freeways if you arrive in the afternoon. All things considered, though, it might be best to rent a car.
Parking at Dodger Stadium is $15, but there are unmetered spots on Sunset Boulevard west of the stadium. If you can find one.
Good luck! Dodger Stadium is quite nice.
