Has anyone seen this movie? It opened in a very small release area, only large market areas at the beginning of July.
It is based on a true story about a Navy Fighter pilot (Dieter Dengler) shot down over Laos and his ensuing captivity and escape. I did a little research on Dieter and his background is extremely interesting (German descent, father alledgedly in the Nazi Party during WWII, how he ventured to the USA, worked in the Air Force, etc.) There is also a documentary about this pilot, which I believe can be found on NetFlix?

Interesting character. No doubt about that.
As i understand from the documentary (little dieter needs to fly) he never knew his father.

The other rendition of this same biography is "Little Dieter Needs to Fly" as LAFF mentions. That one is by Werner Herzog, who most people know from his latest work "Grizzly Man" about the guy who tries to live with wild bears; Herzog has been making unique independent movies since about 1970.
