Default Squaky Ecco shoes

** Title should read 'Squeaky' **

Hey all,

Not sure is this the correct place to post this topic, but here goes. I had recently read some complimentary reviews on Ecco shoes. I wanted a slip on because of the need at times to remove my shoes going through security in the Caribbean locations I fly to.

I just purchased some Ecco Helsinki 2.0 shoes. They are comfortable, appear well made and look good, however the issue I'm running into is that on my oak flooring at home, they are incredibly noisy, making a squeaky sound when I walk. This would be embarrassing if the noise were present at the airport. As the shoes are new, I still have the option to return them.

My question is, are others experiencing this issue, and, is it permanent or temporary? Does it completely go away after the soles hit pavement and 'scrub in'? If these things are anything other than dead-quiet when I walk, they're going back.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

In my experience, new shoe squeak goes away pretty quickly, once you use them a bit. Your floors at home might be too clean to get the soles rough and dirty.

Pretty sure as a kid I saw in a cartoon where a guy used a thumb pump oil can to oil his shoes. Did you try that?

The squeak is temporary. Those are great, comfortable shoes that will last at least 5 years.
