Wow, a 90 year old engineer and Dan Rather say it's unsafe. Shattering might be a good thing as it absorbs the impact energy. Ever seen an indy car hit a wall at 200mph? The thing looks like it's exploding and nearly every time the driver walks away.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Guess he must be more into Nascar...take the blow, duct tape the loose ends, and send it back out...

I guess all those cars driving around with bumpers designed to shatter on impact must be unsafe. Better call Honda...

Those things have a bunch of composite in them now as well. Many drivers are using custom molded seats made from carbon fiber.

Oh yeah, before you knock the hick sports, the HANS device was developed by a the owner of the Bigfoot monster truck. Probably the most significant safety development in autoracing since the helmet.

I was wondering if somebody would get the last line of my first post in this thread

I can't believe they are hating on this thing so much. It's the future, carbon fiber is so much more advanced now than it was even a few years ago.

That line was pretty good too, I can't believe you remember that from 20 years ago.

"Gunga Dan" was also known for his pompous (and short-lived) sign-off line to the viewers: "Courage".

The guy that's the supposed "Whistle Blower" isn't even being recognized by OSHA as one, because they have to Certify the aircraft regardless. Another note is the guy was fired for racism at the job, and some other infractions.

The only thing that would make things more credible...for me...would be if Mary Mapes were involved. Yep...Dan, Mary, and an old guy - because of them I am no longer looking forward to watching the 787 DeathShips first flight.

What a bunch of loons.
