Your Watch

Pilots are known for their large and complicated (or just plain fancy) watches. Indeed, as the old joke goes, you can spot an airline pilot by the large watch, small ****, and the fact that he (due to the aforementioned feature) puts everything on Visa.

Regardless, what watch do you have? I don't have an aviation watch, but it's a Swatch Chrono that can measure down to tenths of a second. It suits my purposes just fine, but the flimsy band (a feature Swatch is notorious for) broke about two weeks after I bought the watch. As luck would have it, my watch is of a brand only available in Europe (I purchased it in France), so I'll just have to own a watch with a broken catch.

. . . pictures would be preferable :D

How about mine? Gotta luv Breitling

Does that happen to be the emergency?

I have a $30 Casio 50M water resistant "Alarm Chrono." Nothing special. Works good, lasts a long time (so far about 17 years with 3 battery replacements and 2 new watch bands.)

Nobody will ever mistake me for a fancy airline pilot! :)

$50 Timex. One with digital presentation and sweep hand. I have the digital set to zulu because I'm a moron and can't keep track of when and how much to add.

I've had it for three years now and it's on the same battery.

Luminox military dive watch. It's non-magnetic (for EOD use) so I don't have to take it off for TSA. It doesn't have any fancy features though, straight quartz analog, with down-time bezel.

Sweet. Above the average pilot budget for sure...you must have made your fortune before aviation, huh?

A Swiss Army analog w/ chrono for me, but my watch fetish demands a Breitling Aerospace (with the titanium band, of course) when/if I can afford one. It's just supercool and incredibly light.

I have the Chase-Durer Pilot Commander XVI. $299 and have had it about 5 years. Love it. It's a little bigger but doesn't set off any metal detectors. In the future I plan on getting something else. I'd like to find a thin, waterproof, watch with both analog hands backed up by a digital head that can do zulu. I to suck at converting it all the time.
