haha nice, also the bigger the watch, the poorer the flying skills ;)

Can't argue with that. Logically you are right on target. But everyman has his own indulgence(s): Cadillac vs Chevy, David Clark vs Telex, Luggageworks vs Costco, Scott Flight Case vs OfficeMax, Mont Blanc vs Bic, Johnnie Walker Blue vs Red, Neiman Marcus vs Foleys...you get the idea.

FWIW-I drive an old '88 pickup, wear blue jeans til they wear out, and use disposable plastic pens/pencils in the jet...but damned if I don't have a good hack on my Breitling!

Hey! Easy now - I freely admit the inverse relationship of watch size to nether regions but nothing more:D

I can't go without a watch. Remove mine at any time and there is a tan line. A watch is sometimes more than just something that tells time. It's also a piece of jewelry. Just as ladies get ear rings etc. I like having a nice clean and crisp watch. Looks professional and good with a suit when I'm at events. Some people don't bother, that's 100% ok, but I will never be without one and if I am going to have one it's going to be nice. Same with my suits, shoes, boots, and belt. I'm not one to go blow money but there are a few things I'll spend some on and nothing beats a nice watch or a good pair of boots. If anyone wants to get some boots made I know a maker on the Mexican side of the border and one in lower Texas. Their quality and comfort is unequaled by ANYONE. You just have to make the trip to have them measure your feet. The one in Texas can send a packet so you can take exact measurements of your feet if you want. I believe starting prices are $400 for the generic and prices go up from there based on how you want them designed. My bud just got his in with three colors of leather, his initials on them, and took a few months to make they were around $700. He got a pretty good deal on them. Feel better than your Nike's or Newbalances and last forever.

now you're talkin..theres nothin better than a set of custom made boots. I get mine from a fellow up in amarillo. I like to blow my money on high end fishing and hunting equipment as well. hard to beat the feel of a G loomis fly rod or the kick of a weatherby rifle

watches to boots

TD, you have inspired me. Wonder if some custom black Ostrich Ropers meet SWA uniform stds (probably not, might have to go less exotic).

Question: Will these custom boots make it through security on my feet?

Ooh, this could be thread drift. Umm, can he make boots with a clock in them?;)

Watch out for the Thread Drift/Thread Hijack Patrol!! :)

Duck, I thought you were too busy to find a female companion? And do you keep your watch on when, uh, you do have a female companion? ;)

Ok, enough before I get in trouble myself.

$50 Navy exchange Casio G-shock just died today after 6 years. One before that lasted a good 6 or 8 as well. Like mentioned above the G-shock is fast 2-3 seconds per week if not more. I also have a $50 Bleitring navitimer I picked up in Kuwait, but it needs a battery and doesn't keep good time.

I've been looking around and see Casio has a version of the G-shock that receives the atomic clock signal so its always accurate. Might go that route, except right now I need to be hacked in to GPS time. Should be the same, but sometimes it seems like the atomic clock and GPS are off by a couple or 5 seconds.

One day when I can afford to buy some toys a real Breitling navitimer will be high on the list, although the Louis Vuitton purse for the wife will come first when that day finally gets here.

Edit: What's the deal with airline uniform requirements for having a watch? Are there any general guidelines for the color/appearance of the watch?

I kind of like this one, 40 bucks on ebay...

I've noticed the same. I actually have a g-shock Atomic (use it to hack my Breitling once a month). Anyway, just got issued one of these:
Suunto x9i
I'm afraid to wear it - my wife might download my track files to see where I've been!

How do you like the g-shock atomic, and which model do you have? I've just been reading some reviews that some of the models are very big/bulky and have buttons that are too small, ie, hard to push, especially with gloves on (yes, I always flew with gloves on, and wear gloves out in the cold with the current job too).
