Got this less than a year ago. Love this thing.

Got this one issued to me: Atomic Solar G-Shock
Too darned big and heavy for my tastes, and yeah, I could see the buttons being a little hard to push with gloves on (probably no harder than other watches though). Most of the other bros in the squadron love the thing - except the auto-hack feature no-workie in Southwest Asia being out of reach of the Atomic Clock signal (which is why we now have the Suunto GPS rig). A funny tidbit on this watch: It is supposed to be still when it performs a "GET" of the Atomic signal. I think it is preset to do this at 0300 or something. Anyway, whenever somebody complains about not having a good hack, you always ask them if their hand was moving at 0300 for some reason... |
Looks pretty cool, thanks, great review too.

Can't argue with that. Logically you are right on target. But everyman has his own indulgence(s): Cadillac vs Chevy, David Clark vs Telex, Luggageworks vs Costco, Scott Flight Case vs OfficeMax, Mont Blanc vs Bic, Johnnie Walker Blue vs Red, Neiman Marcus vs Foleys...you get the idea.

I can't go without a watch. Remove mine at any time and there is a tan line. A watch is sometimes more than just something that tells time. It's also a piece of jewelry. Just as ladies get ear rings etc. .

I wouldn't usually spend this kind of money on something like a watch, but I just couldn't pass up the U-2 Breitlings. Especially the 50th Anniversary Edition.

My current watch. I covet Razor's Aerospace on the right above. Too bad it's 8x the price of my Swiss Army :(

The other week, I went out and bought a Fossil Blue because my Swatch broke again (and it's been causing my wrist to rash out whenever I wear it). The Fossil is working much better; it leaves no rash, keeps good time, and has a much sturdier band.

Rolex GMT Master II - purchased after 35 years of flying. I figure I earned the thing. Still have my Accutron Astronaut (1965) and Glycine Airman (1962).
IMHO the original Glycine Airman with its 24 hour dial is the best cockpit aviation watch. |
