This is truly the worst offense you can make on the radio. I sometimes wait 10 seconds or more to contact the next freq. I can't understand how I could be flying with a 10,000 hour guy who still does this. Another thing I will never do is pronounce five, fife or three as tree. Jeez. What the hell is up with that. I could never be a controller. I'd wash out because I would not say tree.

Did you ever notice the app. controllers in Canada always have to have the last word? When you read back an instruction they always key the mic and say roger or something else like that. One day my FO and I tried to get in to a contest to say the last word. When she said roger, I said roger. Unfortunately she was too professional to get in to it and did not reply. Oh well. Would have been a better story.

I think the AIM states, "1,000 climbing to maintain 3,000". A copilot I fly with regularly is one of the guilty one's that flips the frequency and immediately starts to talk. He's also the one who seconds before the VNAV prompt centers is on the frequency asking for descent clearance. How many times can I explain that the airplane will still come out of the sky if we pass our TOD?!

is there some reason you want to get behind vnav so you have to chase the path??? or do you just like the vibration of the speed brakes as you struggle to make your crossing restriction?

Is it true that the FCC has written a formal letter to all airlines flying into st louis pleading with pilots to not step on go jets pilots? I mean I know they are the hated few at the moment but what is the point? Its unprofesional and very unsafe!

My calls are usually something like this:

ToiletDuck:
Yea... ahhhhh. sh!t hold on dropped my pen.... (15 seconds with mic keyd).. Ok yea thanks for holding... I'm ahh south. No sorry east southeast of the airport like 15miles at 4,500ft. I don't have awos but I'll get that in a second. I'd like to come in and land if thats ok with you?

Tower:
Roger TD winds XXX clear for strait in on runway 35

TD: Yea gotcha man. Thanks. I appreciate it. Hows your day been? Mines good. Ok hey i'm 6miles out now I'm gonna come on in.

Tower: Roger that TD clear to land runway 35

TD: roger roger tower.

Tower:You know I've had a great time talking to you. You aren't a prick like those others that don't feel like saying "with you" or "if possible". They don't understand sometimes things aren't possible or that I'm a human. A human with feelings and needs. I'm glad that you spoke to me like a person. A real person. A person with feelings. My daughter is a single blond 23yrs old 5'6" 24 waist and firm C cup. I want you to give her a call when you land.

************************************************** ******
And you know what Mach 84, I bet to you this seems like a fib or lie even. But it's not. Happens all the time you just don't know that because you fly so strictly. If you lightened up you might have a tower or ATC guy throwing his daughter at you. I'll admit sometimes you have to lower your standards to up your score. But one day you'll be in the hall of greatness with the rest of us. I'm glad you brought this rant to all of our attention. If this thread hadn't sparked the idea I wouldn't have shared this weath of knowledge to all the members here.

So remember guys. Don't rant about dumb stuff.

Direct-To (VTO) the VNAV point...not an issue.
