Default Remote Area Medical Volunteer Opportunity

Last night, 60 Minutes profiled this charity that started life out by dropping medical supplies into the jungles of Africa. The program has expanded that it now also provides much needed medical/dental/vision care, including women's care, in rural America. The 60 Minutes reporter followed the founder, Stan Brock, as he set up a huge medical facility in Knoxville, TN, in January 2008.

It has an aviation side to it, flying planes like old Douglas C-47/DC-3 to the Cessna 150. This might be something for some of you guys to consider.

I am sending in a Volunteer Application even though I am not a doctor or dentist or pilot. My pitch is that I am the Queen of Crowd Control. I'm a bit rusty, but still handy at phlebotomy.

Hope to see some of you in one of its missions. Maybe we'll get to parachute out of the DC-3 into Guyana!

Love the warning.... and the pics

Warning!
Some RAM expeditions go to areas where there is civil unrest, or the possibility of encounters with unexpected natural elements. Be sure to ask the RAM office if your expedition may face any unusual situations.

"If we have to parachute in or run Piranha infested rivers in dugout canoes, we will attain our objective."
