Default Need help on a speech assignment

Im looking for help on my speech assignment for school. Im discussing about why general aviation airports are vital to the local economy. If anybody has any really good sources that would be awesome. Thank you.

You can check the AOPA web site. They provide a lot of that same information to cities and counties to keep airports open.

You may want to "Google" air taxi's or air taxi service or something to that effect. Also, you talk about how general aviation airport affect the local ecomomy.

Suggestion:

Whatever town you live in, go to your local Dept of Arpts or the Planning Dept of the government seat that runs the airport(s) in the city or county/parish were you live. Ask for a complimentary copy of the Airport Master Plan. Within this plan, you will find information on Land Use; Economic Impact on the city or county; Airport Operations and Management Study including potential Air Carrier Ldn 65 Noise Contours; Clear Zones; ALP's - (Airport Layout Plans = runway & taxiway configurations); Noise Abatement; and really a ton of other information I think that would really set you apart from the other students.

Hope this helps. PM me if you're able.

If you're at a loss for info, you might also do a google for "essential air service" which is a gov't subsidy program to provide air carrier service (typically small turboprops like the Beech 1900) to small rural area airports.

Didn't Big Sky just lose their EAS contract? I thought I just read that in my AvWeb.
