Default Other than flying...

Other than flying for a living, the one other interest that I have is...Storm Chasing......that's right.....chasing tornadoes.

In addition to the scientific research that can come from the data that is collected and analyzed by storm chasing, I'm pulled in by the majestic & sequential dance that funnels or tornadoes exhibit.

Any other (wannabe) or actual storm chasers out there?

I know that I'm not alone.

Haha, I like storms, however, I tend to not *chase* them..

In my off time, I work as a rampie, and as an US Army Reservist. I am a Military Police Officer and a fully accredited Paramedic. Other than that, I am professional bar hopper. and Beer chugger.

Yeah, I'm a twister-chasing wannabe...we're heading into my favorite time of year for it, too!

ATP, have you looked into weather modification? Nothing beats flying right up next to a tornadic supercell in 1000+ fpm updrafts.

Why chase them?? I always wanted to fly a hurricane hunter. Penetration is better than voyeurism.

I also like to head out to the Plains every May to chase storms. Even if the weather is "severe clear", I am not disappointed as I love to be on the open road. However, this spring I am staying local (Long Island) and concentrating on building my flying proficiency so that I can apply to the regionals before this hiring window of opportunity closes on me!

me and my stupid best friends used to try and chase storms back in highschool... we would take our cameras and drive into these huge storms hoping to find a tornado, we never did find one

NOAA maintains aircraft and pilots for storm research. The pilots are uniformed, so they get military-equivalent pay and bennies, and I assume navy flight training.
