I saw an internet poll the other day (completely unscientific, but a poll nontheless). It asked whether or not you believe global warming is real, and whether humans were causing it or not.
Something like 35% of people did not believe that global warming was real.
I can't believe that in this day in age that people still believe that there is no such thing as global warming. Find yourself a credible scientist, sit down and talk with them, and listen to what they have to say (not what you want to hear).
If you still believe global warming is not happening (and human activities are contributing to it), you are an idiot.
That is all.

Global warming may be real, but human impact on it is very very minimal. Sorry to dissapoint you Kool-Aid drinkin hippies, we right wing conspirators owned by "Corporations" cannot create weather. What I'm getting at here is that Global warming may be occuring but it isn't caused by humans. CO2 isn't anything more than plantfood and you can't prove me otherwise now... nor have you in the past 20yrs. If people really want to be concerned about the enivronment they would try to stop mercury dumping in the oceans instead of worrying about a "carbon footprint" looks like i'm one of the few that paid attention in 9th grade science.

I think we can all agree that global warming is either happening or it's not, right? And those that may agree that it is happening can agree that humans are contributing or they aren't, right? My point is that whatever the reality is, or whatever your political beliefs are, where is the harm in trying to live a little cleaner and environment friendlier? I don't mean change your lifestyle of living habits and I don't mean to go spend a boat-load of cash on anything or sell the gas-guzzler. Make simple changes when and where you can.
For example, a lot of us drink bottled water. Go spend $15-$20 at your favorite mega-mart and buy several plastic sports bottles. Fill them up with filtered water and stop adding to the mounds of trash that won't disintegrate for 1000 years. It will also save you money from buying bottled water and I know most of us pilots are cheap-a$$es and like to save money. Or if you're in an airport that offers recycling bins, just don't throw your pile in the trash - take the time to put everything in the correct bin. If you've got a diesel vehicle, try to find a place that sells B20 biodiesel. Most places sell it for the same price as regular diesel.
Do these things or similar things when you can and don't worry about when you can't. Every little bit is a good thing. If anyone can give me a legitimate reason not to do these things, I'd like to hear it. Take the politics out of it. I don't care if Gore says this or Bush says that or some Burmese climatologist says something different. Where's is the harm in trying to live cleaner?

Probably lost on all those "idiots", but well taken here.
Very true. I would love to know the answers to these questions:
What is the optimum temperature for the Earth?
What is the optimum level of CO2?
What percentage of temperature change is caused by man?
What would the economic and human cost be to stop burning fossil fuels and would it effect the Earth's temperature?
Does a lifelong political hack and huckster funded by a guy named Soros have a special knowledge or insight?
Does calling people idiots help a logical argument?
It's all harmless until government steps in and starts regulating your lifestyle based on a group of people's opinions who can't tell me what the weather will be tomorrow, much less 100 years from now. If we enact all the regulations on industry that the Kyoto protocols require, then the cost of that is going to be passed on to you and me, the consumers. I'm not opposed to keeping the environment healthy, but there are plenty of credible scientists (quite a few of them former global warming advocates) who say that there simply isn't any credible data to support the theory that global warming is being caused by the human population of this planet. If you dare to disagree with what some popular culture has bought into on global warming, you are immediately labeled a heretic, or an "idiot" by some punk kid on an internet forum board. Good science involves debate, scrutiny and discussion...not just lapping up media dogma from the bowl they set out for you every night at 6 PM...

I think most will agree that those people are the true "idiots" as opposed to people that support an issue with some knowledge and understanding.

Precisely what i'm going for here. Real pollutants are NO2 and SO2.....NOT CO2. So why should I be worried about my "carbon footprint"? what a joke.

Please sign me up for the 35 % team.
Humans create waste and air pollution.
Bison cause waste and air pollution.
Trees, yes, trees cause waste and create air pollution (google "atlanta smog and trees").
Now, unlike the buffalo and elm tree, I can try to reduce my impact, my footprint somewhat:
I don't need to use electricity (goofing off on APC for instance) when I should be sleeping.
I don't need to bathe everyday, although many would say I should.
Anyway, I won't give up my livelyhood, my need for shelter and my need for nourishment.
Why doesn't the former VP chop a tree down or ask the bison to stop eating, shedding and crapping?
