If you had told Mr. Douglas back in 1968 that the DC-9's his company was making then would be flying well into the next century, I am sure he would have laughed. But the first plane I ever flew in (a North Central DC-9) is probably sitting at the A Concourse in Detroit right now.

Those are some of the best graveyard shots I've seen...Is that Mojave?

Also, isn't that the launch 747? I thought that had been donated to Smithsonian, to be used at a later date? Maybe it's not the same plane?

hey i believe that's right on Alvernon in tucson right across from AMARC Davis Monthan AFB (ie the boneyard) ... i believe i've seen that Somali bad boy before? The guy runs the junk shop and tried to sell the Pan Am logo to a friend of mine for 1k. Ive got several pieces out of there myself no logos though. This is a private parts vendor right? Looks familiar i might be way off...planes are laying to rest everywhere these days.

Very cool and thanks for posting. My favorite is the picture with the luggage still there. That's priceless!

THERE'S my suitcase! I told lost baggage that it never made it off the plane!
Pic #6

I saw a television show once where movable surfaces were polished and made into coffee tables and alike. I would love to have some of that stuff to tinker with and eventually display in my home.
