Disgusting. Texas really should be its own country.
The "man" was never in danger
The burglars were not robbing him.
He went outside to shoot them despite the urging advice of the 911 operator to stay inside.
Shot them in the back while they were fleeing the area.
He just wanted to shoot his gun. He is a despicable excuse for a human. The fact that you think this is a good thing for a civilized society speaks volumes about you.
In Texas, death penalty for burglary. Yeah. That's a good thing.

The article cited above states they had taken $2,000. The guy saw them coming out of the window so there was no question they were burglarizing the home.
From the Associated Press:
"...The two suspected burglars, Hernando Riascos Torres, 38, and Diego Ortiz, 30, were unemployed illegal immigrants from Colombia. Torres was deported to Colombia in 1999 after a 1994 cocaine-related conviction. ..."
I'd say it was a good thing.

Hey- don't want to get shot? Don't commit the crime.
I fairly liberal in my leanings, a recovering Republican if you will...but I've got no problem with this personally. These guys made an adult decision. A poorly considered criminal decision, and they paid the price. As a previous 4 year Texas resident, there are certain things I do miss.
While the legal aspects might be a stretch, again, I've got no problems with it. How much of threat does one stand for or accept? A little, some, or do you wait for all of it? If someone is in my house, or on my property and feel afraid or threatened; well someone other than my wife anyway, I'll do what I need to do to. As Jeff Foxworthy so eloquently said, "this a house where a gun lives". If you are hurt or killed during the commission of a crime- nobody owes you anything.
On the other hand, I'm glad to see that there are some non-involved parties who have the strength or wisdom to stand idly by while their next door neighbors are robbed.

He gave them a warning and they ignored it. One ran toward him then ran at an angle and he shot him.
Who was going to be next? Maybe someone would have been home at their next victim's house. Two illegals start breaking into houses and somehow people choose to defend THEM. The 911 operator is not a law enforcement officer so their SUGGESTION to stay inside is just that, a suggestion. How long should he have let these two continue burglarizing his neighborhood?
Here's a novel idea, don't commit crimes and you won't get shot.

Guess you ain't from these parts huh?
Their next victim was.
Maybe....but at least he picked two good targets..Illegal alien burglars that won't be continuing their crime spree.
But he can be my neighbor anytime
For civilized society it means nothing but to the criminal society it serves as a good deterrent. I guess I can safely assume you don't have a concealed carry permit, don't hunt, and watch a fair amount of CNN and MSNBC.
Debatable...check the crime stats in countries that have more of an "eye for an eye" legal system.
Sorry, I have to go. I am installing a mine field around my armory where I plan on huddling down and clinging to my religion and my guns.

Whats wrong with people these days? Why are people so willing to protect those in the wrong, and so eager to punish those who take care of thier property and individual rights. If I hear one more person saying "love me, accept me, agree with me" I am gonna puke. I'm sorry, but life has its hard times, and if you steal from someone in Texas you should expect to get shot and not get any sympathy. Just my opinion. Nobody has to like it or agree with it.
Rant over.
