Tip the maid? Are you serious? My momma raised kids who cleaned up after themselves and left a place as good or better than they found it.

3 bucks for the driver, FO gets the out bound leg. Nothing for the maid, if she's pretty, I'd give her a smile: hasn't happen yet!:D

How to tip a maid

$1 per day, per bed, on your pillow or with a note anywhere else in the room. Most hotels have a policy that maids are not allowed to touch any money unless it is on the pillow or there is a note. There are certain instances where you should leave a little extra tip. Such as if you request additional services extra towels, sheets changed (not all hotels change your sheets if you are staying over). It is true that if you tip generously you get much better service. The hotel I work at does not change the sheets on stay overs, only when the guests check out. But when we get a generous tip, we change sheets, leave extra towels, and offer more if we see you. Unfortunately, 9 out of 10 guests don't tip at all. I disagree with the no tipping on check out. Check outs take a long time to do. We have to clean from top to bottom.

anyone who has ever worked a job that get tips knows its important, and i hate people who do not tip. i am a very generous tipper, i usally do at least 2 to the driver, and 3 if he/she helps out, or is speedy. room service people i tip them as if they were a pizza delivery guy, and they usally get 3-4 depending on what i order, and the maids i give 2 to, unless i request extra things.

Don't feel bad for the shuttle drivers at the airport. I met a shuttle driver at LAS who was a former NW airlines maintenance tech. He said he brings in close to $70,000 a year driving a shuttle and has no plans to return to aviation maintenance because the pay is so good.
I also met a valet and a bell boy at MGM Grand who both claimed to make over $80,000 a year. The bell boy owned two homes in Las Vegas and had plans for another. They are some of the better paid employees in the city. Not too bad for a job that requires no education and no special skills. Unforunately those jobs are all about who you know, otherwise I might be a bell boy (lol).

When it's my turn, I tip 3 bucks for the short drives, and 5 for the longer drives. This covers the two of us. Oh, and any extra stops, such as the bakery in SJU, rate extra tip $$ (as well as his choice of pastry!)

I'm sorry, but I think the tipping thing has gone too far. I like the Japanise way, don't, and they still do a better job:eek: When tippng becomes customary, like in food service, the people arn't paid any more, they are paid less! It is expected that the costumer will pick up the slack, good service or not. As been pointed out before, no one tips pilot, and we know in many cases they earn less than a maid.:mad:

I think a buck each way is enough...if its crappy service,i do not give anything,i usually get my own bags anyways...
